Fishing the
Upper Willamette area
There are several High Mountain Lakes within a radius of 50
miles of Oakridge, Oregon. There are several lakes that are accessible only by hiking, but
the fishing is excellent with flies, lures or bait. The lakes are habited by Rainbow,
Brown and Cutthroat trout, which are very tasty and fun to catch.
Most of the larger lakes are accessible by auto and have
boat ramps and resorts for lanching. These lakes have Kokanee or Blue Backs, Brown and
Rainbow trout and some have bass and makinaw. Most of these lakes are fished by trolling,
jigging or fly fishing.
The season on most of the high mountain lakes starts in
April and closed in October. Most of the streams as well as the lakes are open and are
accessible for drifting or fishing from the banks with flies or bait. For the avid or
novice fisherman, this is a great place to enjoy this sport.
